Uploaded my video of DJ Jazzy Jeff with Gearbox video in the background.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C9A8wcrcLXY Party was awesome, it was my first at Gearbox. The room was laid out bars on 4 corners of the ballroom, with the stage in the middle. The VIP section was at the back of the room and featured 2 bars with free drinks to those wearing the VIP badge and a wrist band. ![]() at the front of the ballroom was the area where we were showing off Hell's Highway and Samba De Amigo. I spent a lot of time in their helping party guest with the concept of "you cannot run and gun like call of duty" you need to take cover and flank Definitely think that I scored a few more fans once they understood the gameplay. For those what went I was walking around with a green smiley shirt. Man I talked to like 4 or 5 people who were in industry. First I had no idea the big bar in the middle was VIP and the guy didn't see me hop in line for the bar. So standing in line I saw Randy Pitchford, and I told my wife...she said go say something, I said no, she called me a *****, I went...Well he was chatting to a couple of other people and he glanced at me twice and could see I wanted to say something, but I just stood there looking like an ass, with NO VIP thingy lol. Then i moved a little closer, and he kind of looked at me, then I started mumbling about how to get a job, told him, and showed him my little sticker deal(look a couple of posts up, I had it but did not wear it) instead I handed to him, he read it laughed pretty good, and then I do not remember lol. He might have pocketed it or handed it off to someone? I am not sure.
After leaving Randy going and standing in line with the wife, to be told I could not buy drinks here because I am not VIP. So leaving the bar in rejection and looking for somewhere to get a drink, I ran into this person... http://www.gearboxity.com/component/...t,8/Itemid,45/ Also I spoke with two guys outside on the smoking balcony. They worked for Ensemble. I bought two cigarettes for a dollar. Told them I was trying to get a job entry level, and gave them another sticker I had lol. Later on in the evening me and the wife went outside to smoke the other of the two cigarettes. The reason I had to buy the smokes is because, we quit a couple of weeks ago and what better way to converse with people then over a cigarette. It was part of my networking scheme. But I went outside found a group of smokers and asked for a light. a man said sure we can get this man a lighter! then I said please, and he was like and this man is a nice man, and I got my light. Then said so do you work here, and he looked around said not here but at Gearbox, and then we just started talking. I got his card, gave him mine. Talked a lot about TF2...and then I left...The link is the guy I talked with outside. http://www.gearboxity.com/component/...163/Itemid,45/ That was the end of it. We left shortly after wards. I wish i knew who I talked to. I think there was definatly a Mike. And then there was this guy, who didn't talk much-
http://i83.photobucket.com/albums/j2...ish300/014.jpg DJ Jazzy jeff cracked me up with all that oldschool stuff he was spinning. I talked to a Gearbox level designer who was awesome and gave me a smoke, and a sweet gal who was an art intern and worked on mobile phone versions of games. There was also a guy from Destructoid who had just got back from PAX and was very cool (and patient lol). It was neat to see how many different groups of people were there. I <3 the gamer community. And there I am, the red headed stepchild from gamestop. D= EDIT; i took my camera and tried to snap some shots in the main area, but they turned out horribly =( I have a Randy Pitchford shot though! Gamer celebrity! |
