A different Hive on LV-426 could suggest this. Or any remaining Xenos alive around HH could have started a new Hive.

O yeh, I meant on the derelict though! As all of the eggs were kept in stasis, and with no other hosts that we know off aliens couldnt have started a hive there.

Unless a Xeno from HH went back to the derelict assuming its not destroyed and tried to start a Hive.

Considering that the chamber that the eggs were in was HUGE and there seemed to be no end to the slimy sacks, it would be safe to assume that the screen-shot could have been taken in an unseen area, it could be the main entrance to the chamber, or maybe a secondary one. (Remember, Kane went in through an impromptu hole (Lolacid) in the floor.) If the Derelict was left untouched form the Atmos going up, then it's safe to say that the hive was as well. Adding the fact that "the eggs last forever" it's safe to assume they lasted a few more months/ years. The eggs don't need aliens to keep them healthy, and as I recall there was already a hive (Sans aliens) in place when the crew of the Nostromo got there.

You could be right. From what most of us (I think most of us) are thinking is that W-Y Corp has 17 days to mess around with LV-426 as much as they want until our squad of Marines come into play, AND that does not include the time in which it takes our Marines to get there in the first place (Has anyone ever thought of the possibility of there being mechanics or a medical team on the Sulaco) Anyways from what has been said in articles we start on the Sulaco and encounter Xenos there. NOW I personally am not sure about encountering Xenos on the Sulaco in just 17 days unless the Queen from ALIENS managed to sneak aboard some more stuff less unexplainable than what we see in ALIEN 3.
