Will any of the more interesting/entertaining responses be released or an overall summary of the community's selections be made public? Or will it remain up to the participants to disclose what they said about their ex-girlfriends in the survey?

We won't be releasing any of the information given in the survey. We are using that information internally only.

One can only hope that whoever gets all this info, doesn't listen to anyone in marketing that decides to scrap key features just to make a release date convenient for marketing.

When has Gearbox done that? Releasing a game is a little more involved than just working with the Marketing department. You also have internal deadlines as well as Publisher deadlines etc. I think whatever Gearbox does with the info, it will turn out just fine.

Moxxi DLC - 'nuf said
Zombie Island - Trimmed Heavily
Knoxx - Trimmed so bad they had to takeout the teleporters just to prolong what marketing thought we would enjoy..... driving !!

If you really don't know how very little of the original game made it to market, then I suggest you read threads starting in March 2009. Gamers are only playing a shell of the original intent of Borderlands and associated DLC.
