The 10.7 drivers do not stop the memory leak.

I did have frame spikes, but in CCC 10.6 I never experience freezes of any kind. 10.7 reintroduced the freezes.

The memory leak seems random. It occasionally gets cleaned up allowing us to continue playing.

I was also running with fraps, and no I am not going to accept running without it as a solution.

I would like to point out that it seems like the save process has started every single time this happens to me.

Looks like lots of people are experiencing the same thing with 10.7 drivers.

Are you going to say the same to GBX about the random computer shutdowns?
(that never ever happens in any other game I play)

All that is is a rebranded ATI 5750...

If you update to CCC 10.7 and run in windows 7 you will have the same issues.

The frame rates still spike in 10.6. It's just that 10.7 actually crashes. I am going to revert to 10.6 tonight anyway.

I had freeze with a CFX of HD4850 under Win 7 x64, but after some (looong) tests think i found something stable, i played all the week and 4 hours straight without a single freeze, I tried:
  • Cat 10.5 without profile = Freeze
  • Cat 10.5 + CFX profile 10.5 = no freeze but no CFX (only one GPU running)
  • Cat 10.6 + CFX profile 10.6 = Massive stuttering (cat 10.6 & 10.7 CFX problems)
  • Cat 10.7 + CFX profile 10.7 = Massive stuttering (and maybe freeze)
  • Cat 10.5a without profile = Freeze
  • Cat 10.5a + CFX profile 10.5 = no freeze but no CFX (only one GPU running)
  • Cat 10.5a + CFX profile 10.6 = playable, smooth framerate, no freeze (yet...)
  • Cat 10.5a + CFX profile 10.7 = Freeze

I think the key lies in CFX profiles, the CFX profiles 10.6 seems to correct the freezing behavior (at least for me) while 10.7 (and some earlier versions found at rage3D for example) reintroduce it.

So all you need is:

Catalyst 10.5a (great if you're playing Bad company 2 too), maybe 10.5 if this one isn't working with your HD5xxx card.
And Catalyst application profile 10.6 (make sure to desinstall all previous profiles).

Hope it'll do it for you too~

Update: Cat 10.5a + CFX profile 10.6 = freeze too...
