I started this at the end of July, but I got side tracked with some other issues and then I was away on vacation for a week, but I'm back working on it again this weekend.
Here's what I have so far (a prototype)... ![]() I still have to experiment with the size (to get a life sized scale) and I have to experiment with where some of the cuts are made (to make it easier to assemble), but it looks like this might wind up being a pretty cool Halloween mask (and with a few additional accessories you could dress up as a Borderlands Bandit as a Halloween costume).

Do It! I've always wanted to do this sort of thing with various game series, but I don't have the.... "necessary environment" or "skills" to do it.

As a prior paper model designer, half of what makes a good model is it's proper "unfolding' to ensure easy/quality of assembly...good luck, heh.

Sunday afternoon, I put most of the prototype mask together...
![]() ...it's a little bit too small (and I didn't bother to attach the black edges around the outside border of it). I tried cutting out the eye holes so I could see out of it, but it really doesn't look as good without the blue glowing parts of the eyes, so I'm beginning to think this probably won't look as good as I thought it would for an actual mask. It was quite a bit harder to assemble than the Markus Bobblehead that I did a few months ago. There's lots of small pieces and some of the folds are kinda tricky (to get the shape to look right). I'm still experimenting with getting the size to be better (larger), which means the eyes will get further apart and that means that the eye holes probably won't line up with where they would need to be to see clearly out of the mask. I'm hoping that maybe I can poke some pinholes into it where they won't be noticeable and still be able to see out of it somewhat. |
