2 things
Single player has to actual be a campaign with story and interactive dialog with NPC like Fallout 3 Online co-op has to be a tighter exp that is standalone were you play on more liner levels kind of like I guess L4D but with host migration drop in an drop out play

As long as "Borderlands 2/Borderplanets" keeps the focus on shooting and the loot, I don't mind them improving the story-telling a little bit and having more NPCs. However, I don't want the next game turning into Fallout 3. Borderlands is about the loot and shooting. Story should be improved upon, but come second.
If I want a game with an in-depth story, interactive dialog and lots of NPCs I'll play Fallout 3 again and buy Fallout 4. However, I'm all for a little bit more story etc, as long as it doesn't interfere with the core gameplay that makes Borderlands great at the moment. I'm not entirely sure what you mean by co-op being a "tighter experience" with "linear levels"...

There's really no reason for a 2 yet. None at all. This game's been out for less than half a year. What are they going to do except repackage it?

Agreed. However, no harm in providing a few suggestions/ideas. I'm sure that is exactly what Gearbox are going to need once they are done with their DLC.

They could do all of this, and considerably more, with DLC.

I had a pretty nifty system that I think would make a hell of a sequel, if anyone wants to hear it. I posted it in another thread, so I won't repost, but it basically involved changing pretty much none of the game mechanics. In fact, the only things you would need to do would be to design new areas in the system I proposed, so theoretically some level designers could even make this a gigantic mod.
Edit: I think my point was a little unlcear there. Basically, I'm saying for a sequel, they just need to change the gameplay structure, and in fact do very little to the game itself. Except maybe cut down on useless or gimmicky weapons (spiraling bullets, Hydra and other useless legendaries).

I love Borderlands, but have some suggestions for a sequel. Some ideas:
- Give us something to do with all the money we aquire. Let us buy a house, spaceship, or create a weapons museum. Something. - Each weapon should have some bottom-line DPS (damage per second) stat. It is difficult to compare weapons when you have to multiply the damage by the fire rate and then factor in accuracy and other stats (ex: -50% Damage). Maybe Gearbox feels this will make it too easy to evaluate weapons and that everyone will take the weapon with the highest DPS. I do not think this will be the case. For example, elemental stats effects would still make me carry several different sniper rifles. - Give us a place to store our stuff. I heard this is available in the Moxxi DLC, which I don't have. Obviously this should be a basic feature of any sequel. - Don't associate characters with character classes. In hindsight, I think it may have been better to let players create their own characters. It's not like the game goes into any detail about the characters' story anyway. - Don't call missions "Trivial." I did every mission, and that causes me to level up in a way that every mission was listed as "trivial." It took away some of the satisfaction of playing the game. A mission is only "trivial" if it gives me negligible experience. - Keep allowing us to attack enemy positions from different angles. I love a lot of the Arid Badlands and Rust Commons missions that let you attack a bandit stronghold from different directions. Those kind of decisions really make me feel like I am playing in a real world. - Make the "experience needed for next level" counter easier to read. It's hard to see what 1456786 - 1345978 is at a glance. Just a few ideas. Overall, the game is awesome and there isn't much major stuff I would change. |

I think they should do a full dlc (almost like an expansion) with a few new missions (the size of zombie island) and just add a new character. That would defenatly get alot of people who moved on, to get back to playing. It would also make it a "must have" in the sense of gen. Knoxx. Adding a new boss like crawmerax would also make would be awsome as well.
