Default What's with high levels joining low level games?

So I just got this game. I don't know if I'm the exception, but I like a challenge and I like playing games as they were intended to be played.

So when I'm level 4 and a level 50+ joins and starts annihilating everything in the area, I get a bit peeved. I mean what's the point of playing if I'm just going to walk behind someone else and pick up whatever loot they don't want.

So I've started hosting my own games and kicking people who join that are more than 5 levels above me. In one case I got a particularly snotty message from somebody after kicking them.

Am I missing something here? Is this normal to do? Do most people play like this, with a high level basically just clearing everything for them? I used to hate it in World of Warcraft when somebody brought their "brother's L80 Deathknight" into an instance and just cleaned up everything while the rest walked behind and looted. I mean what's the point.

So yeah, am I missing something here?

Pretty much everyone hates it, you're not alone.

I assume people do it just for the sake of griefing lower level players, much like level 70s and hackers with their 1-shot-kill Willow- Tree'd weapons hop into later level games and stomp everything.

i think people do it sometimes cause they're bored, since like has been said MANY times, what you do with your high level chars (esp with knoxx DLC) is not clear

so people join public games to play with other people... albeit misguided

unfortunatly if those levels are 50 or 61 those are legit players, the 61's are prolly bored with farming one area over and over, and the 50's prolly just wanna play with other people.

If those levels are 70 or the players are using guns that when fired lag your game down

these are MODS and they exist near about everywhere you turn, my advice host private games and only invite people you know.

Thats something else GBX need to do for BL2, if they insist on locally hosted games and not on secure servers, at least give us a proper match making lobby, and allow us to set up games with set level entry requirements.

The level joining system sucks.
All you have to do is select your level 1 player, search for a game (get matchmade to a game with a level 1) and change back to your leel 61.

Anyone can do this.

Public games: bad behaviour (61s-70s taking the lead, looting, making all the kills) does earn an insta-kick.

However, please don't kick for no reason. If you are anywhere from lvl 45 to 55ish and a 61 drops in and just stands around and revives and helps if you are in trouble etc then nothing wrong with that. Let them stay and earn your trust......you may turn out to friend each other and go from there.

Most public games at Knoxx dlc are about killing craw. That does get a little tiring and so some guys who are at 61 like a little change and search for games at Knoxx that are in progress. So I repeat don't insta-kick, give those veterans a little space to earn your trust. You may be surprised that there are gamers out there who actually respect the public game hosts.

I'll join a lower level game just to walk around and play the medic for them. Not killing a damn thing and simply using Roland to heal them or revive them.
Really the game is crap without scaling once you reach a certain point. With absolutely nothing left to do you have to find a way to entertain yourself with the game.
Driving people to the destination, acting as a medic and using the Support Gunner mod to provide them with ammo.

I have to admit that I haven't played the game in almost a month now however.
Don't assume every high level player is there to cause problems.

Sometimes I do not pay attention and do this by accident.
Some people may not do it on purpose.
