I've been thinking of this for a long time and I've even mentiond it on on a previous post.
I don't know how many of you have actually played World War 2 Online [www.wwiionline.com] But it was fun. But hard and the graphics sucked. I was thinking - What if Gearbox, someone who knew what they were doing - got their hands on the concept and started to develop a Massive Multiplayer Online Game based on World War 2? Would you guys Pay a monthly fee for it? Just imagine. Traveling from one town to another, Advancing, and watching the germans flee. Grouping at a newly taken Village, planting the next attack. In World War 2 Online, the battles have taken days to take a town. Its just an amazing concept. Ideas?

I think gearbox needs to work their way up to this. If they keep the squad based combat of BiA in a MMOG then that means they have to track your avatar and your squad. Existing MMOGs already have trouble managing the huge player base that consists of just the single player character. Multiply that by 8 AI squadmates and you'll get a headache in terms of server requirements.
I'd rather they concentrate on going to the next level and giving me an entire platoon to command . Only this time I'll order squad leaders who then order their squad to do things. And then perhaps in the MP there can be 1 human platoon leader and 1 or more human squad leaders working with the AI squads.

Im still a wwiionline member - same name
I'm actually curious to see if this game might change some of the tactics used in that game. Imagine, fire and manuver tactics against another all-human squad?

This isnt really the right forum to talk about it. But check out the website I posted above. They have some valuable info there. Although they do half of Europe in 1944 Half scaled into the game.

It sounds like a good idea, but don't forget that a mmog is on the opposite end of the fps gamming spectrum from this game. wwiiol has a traide off of graphics and ai for larger battlefields and massive ammounts of players. To be able to have everything would require everyone to have supercomputers and take alot of development.
