Its the most interesting and phycological conflicts in american history
There is so much that people dont know about vietnam and what happened there. I mean there are a few movies , but not one of them really captures what really happened ( Apoc now almost had nothing to do with the war itself and that is the best of the movies ) There is only one game that was truely good at bringing it out into the open , but it was made by a tiny developer with a low budget ( still came out amazing ) and that game was vietcong Why hasnt gearbox taken up the task of showing the world what vietnam was really like from a first person perspective ? The horrors of that conflict are the most unnoticed in history , and its sad that people dont know about it |

key word: Unnoticed.
The thing is gearbox needs to make a profit in order to keep making games, and by doing so they have to make games that would be popular. The vietnam war was never popular, not even when it was still on. I'm not saying I wouldn't like a vietnam game, I would. But the chances of that are nill since its hard to make a game with the only cover being trees and trenches and getting the general audience of gamers to go out and buy it. BIA even has to be run and gun friendly this time around. and the last thing we need are more cod2's and 4's.

Full Metal Jacket was pretty good, better then Apocalypse Now as far as vietnam movies go, especially because Apocalypse Now was based off of a book that had nuthin' to do with nam.
And also answering the question, why haven't the made one yet, it is because they have only made two of their own games, and apparently Randy P is a big WWII guy. I don't think it is at all out of the question, I'm sure someone at GBX understands that there is some great storytelling potential in nam. Personally, I don't think it matters that the war itself is unpopular, especially in BIA's case, because they tend to focus on storyline and characters instead of the entire conflict.
