Greetings all,
I just want back through a history of the video trailers and gameplay videos over the past 3 years and I am curious about a couple of things. Youtube shows a video in 2007 that shows baker on a train and inside a buidling in Eidenhoven that gets shelled and they eventually take out the 88. Is that mission in the current release of the game? The objects, lighting, and graphics seem very different than the gameplay videos I am seeing now. Also the E3 video from 2006 really looks very different and almost seems like it may have been pre-rendered With all the delays on this game did something happen that required a major engine change? There is definately a missing link. Maybe it has been discussed way back already. By no means am I complaining, I am very curious to the story behind the story. I am huge BIA fan and live in Dallas so please know I am not trying to suggest the current release is a bad game. I recall Randy in an interview talking about the Unreal engine and referenced Gears of War a lot. Up to that point I don't recall ever seeing the 'dig in' ability in any BIA video but after that interview I began to see the 'dig in effect' . Again just curious to an engine issue that impacted development mid-stream. Last edited by dpruitt1; September 25th, 2008 at 11:02 AM. |

I beleive the toy shop is at the end of "Operation Garden" but i'm not sure. You do take out the 88's although it was a different part of a different mission. |

Hi dpruitt,
The game went through a lot of changes during that time, both in gameplay and in storyline. The train sequence you're talking about was one of our earliest scenes, and it did not make the final cut. It, and the gameplay from Randy's 2006 E3 presentation, were done in-engine, not pre-rendered. As for the dig-in feature, it was added later on. It was brought to you courtesy of Parnic, who programmed it.

In one of the other threads it talks about they made it with too many high pixel objects and had to change things to get it to run or something like that. I've forgtton which thread tho.

LOL, and I should also add that it's one of my favorite additions to the game.

Sounds like you did a good job, Parnic, from what I've read on the "dig in" feature. I'm waiting on the PC version.
