Ok now that BIA is out, I think it's fair to say that a lot of people have noticed that the pre game release shots from a few years ago look a lot better than the final product. I am not saying anything about the game play or it's quality in terms of that, but visually...well...BIA definitly doesn't look like it was supposed to or promised to. Look at the old E3 trailer from around 2006 for how beautiful it looked back then.
Now this reminds me...the scans of the pics for aliens looked amazing, truly amazing. The game play vid is too hazy to make out it's graphics very clearly so it's hard to judge. But is anyone else worried that graphically, Gearbox may have promised with renders what isn't actually achievable? I hope I'm wrong but this has me worried...because the difference in BIA's promised and final graphics seem pretty significant to me. |

What have you been smoking? BiA HH looks way better now than it did back in 2006!

Maybe they had to down grade them to get a good FPS rate? I think I remember reading something that because of the consoles they had to go to some simpler objects (Pleaes don't flame me, I'm just reporting what was said over there, the messager always gets blamed and killed). It's over in one of the BiA discusions threads. But I have better hopes for the PC version having some type of graphics control to bring them back up.

Well they said that once HH was released, we'd get to hear about more development news from A:CM. Let's hope to hear something inspiring soon.

This happens with all games though. Look at what they have done with the characters in L4D, or the high resolution master chief from the first H3 teaser.
Games keep iterating and going through constant changes until they are released. If you guys have followed at least one game through its development cycle then you will be used to this by now. So my answer is no I am not worried that the game will look worse, but also I don’t think the game will look exactly like it did in the screenshots either. We already picked out a train load of cosmetic things that are not quite as accurate as we would like them to be. You have to assume the devs looked at all that feedback and it will play a part along with any other cosmetic changes the devs implement in the final game release. We do know they’ve learned the technology of the current gen platforms now, so there wont be those hiccups they have to overcome. Also Raider is right, apparently with BIA:HH being their first next gen title, they started off with too high expectations for what the machines could do, so had to slightly downgrade. But IMO the game looks better now than previously because the GFX look so much more refined. What you should be asking is, will this game look better than BIA: HH? And yes I think it will.

I'm with you Sh0dan and I'm really hoping that with their experience now with the new tech stuff and their better understanding of how it functions and how to impliment it, A:CM is going to be awesome. And GBX is doing the whole A:CM inhouse. I'm hoping. Because if you take just BiA HH SP, almost everyone gives it high marks. I'm also hoping they know how important with Co-op in A:CM that they have the least amount of lag as possible for a good experience and I'm sure they already know this, I just pointing it out to be helpful

ACM is completely different story. When we got to know of ACM was about this February, and that was when Gearbox was already experienced on the console to certain extent thanks to HH's development cycle. So what they have shown us, I think that they are definitely aiming for that, and that's not impossible considering today's standard. |

BIA looks so much worse than what was promised it's not even funny...it seems everyone who saw the original stuff has noticed a huge downgrade. It's not like the H3 teaser where the difference is basically nothing. If like H3, it had almost achieved it, or came very close, I would understand. But it's not, it's a huge gulf between what was promised and what was delivered. I also don't buy that they ''didn't know'' what next gen consoles could deliver...I remember a lot of people at the time were sceptical, and if people with no console devloping experience and just fans were doubtful even next gen consoles could get where they promised, I don't see why an experienced developer would be more ignorant of a console's capabilities than just fans.
