Default Broken disk...what?

So I bought the game at my local gamestop today. When I got home I put the game in my CD drive and tried to install it, the first time I tried installing the game a quarter of the way through it stopped and just disappeared. The second time I start it up it says.

"NSIS Error

The installer you are trying to use is corrupted or incomplete.
This could be the result of a damaged disk, or a failed download or virus.

You may want to contact the author of this installer to obtain a new copy.

It may be possible to skip this check using the /NCRC command line switch
(NOT RECOMMENDED)."

Uhh.. what? The game/disc is in MINT condition and they are saying the disk could be damaged. I really want to play this game on my PC so can anyone give me some suggestions? Thanks in advance

What operating system? And is it 32-bit or 64-bit?

You may try deleting the portion of the game that tried to install and re-install it. Not sure what could cause this.

From the error it sounds like the installer tried to install part of the game, but the CRC check on the data read from the disc failed. It could be a symptom of bad media, or a failing drive/laser, or something as simple as some dust on the laser lens.

Do you have either a different DVD drive or computer to try to install from? That would rule out the drive, and leave the disc itself as the possible culprit.

If you don't have a different drive or computer to try, you might want to try exchanging that disc for another one which would rule out the physical media.

Sorry you're having difficulty installing the game, but I'm hopeful we can find a solution!

Well after a few retries of installing the game, it took about 20 minutes to install it, but it worked. For some reason it was going AWFULLY slow, but it's working so it must of been a minor error. Anyways thanks for the help!

Glad you got it working. You may have a weak or dying laser in your DVD drive, as Jebus suggested. I wouldn't be surprised if that starts popping up in other places .

Enjoy the game!

Another thing you can try is to copy the contents of the DVD to a temporary folder on your hard disk, then run the Autorun.exe executable from there. Once the game is installed, delete the temporary folder and all it's contents.

Some DVD drives are finicky and will work properly when Windows reads files from the DVD, but don't read properly when other applications are reading files from them. By copying the files from the DVD to a temporary folder using Windows, you get around this problem.
