Have you ever noticed how people who make vehicles first make a concept car and the concept car is AWESOME? Look at this link and see for yourself: But later, by the time the car reaches the assembly line, it gets watered down into something much less exciting. These are the cars you see on the road all around you. You might be driving a car just like that every day. You know something? The same thing happens with video games. Here is a link to some concept art of the environment from one of my favorite games of last year, Fallout 3: Here's a link of an in-game screenshot of the environment that I also found on Bethesda's website: Fallout 3 Screenshot The game is great, don't get me wrong! It's one of my favorite games of the year. And you can compare the concept art to the final game with all of the big games and see some surprising differences. Try it yourself. Use Google and look up concept art for Halo 3 or Call of Duty or Gears of War and see how the concept is affected when it reaches production. The same thing was happening to our game. But, the artists and programmers at Gearbox Software put a stop to that. They developed technology and techniques to render the concept art look for the game in real time 3d. We don't know what to call the result. You can use whatever term you like. We decided to use the term Concept Art Style. It looks cool in screenshots. It looks astonishingly cool in real time. You'll see soon.

I understand the logic behind the shift, and I support it 87-96%. Go Gearbox!

Randy, you're the best development company president ever. I'll tell you why: you know how to run a business, you're enthusiastic about the projects your company puts out, you stand behind those projects, you know what's fun to play, and you always, always think of you company's fanbase.
