Default Known Issues Status Update

Thank you all for using this forum to report any technical issues you’ve experienced while playing Borderlands! We’ve been working hard since release to investigate the reported issues, and would like to use this post to keep you all updated on the status of commonly reported issues. Some of these issues can be solved with workarounds, and others have been identified but will need additional time before they can be addressed.

If you are experiencing any issue that is not listed here, please do make a thread in this forum about it and provide as much information as you can so we can begin investigating it!



Solved Issues – these issues should no longer occur

Issue: PSN friends list not functioning properly
Status: Fixed!
Verified Solution: As of 10/20/09, an update with a hot fix for this issue has been applied already on the back-end, user doesn’t have to do anything for this to function properly now – just play the game!
Update: We have received some information that this is not working for all players and is still affecting a small subset. We are attempting to find the source of the continuing problem for these users

Issue: PSN server browser takes a long time to populate server list
Status: Fixed!
Verified Solution: As of 10/22/09, an update with a hot fix for this issue has been applied already on the back-end, user doesn’t have to do anything for this to function properly now – just play the game!

Issue: PC locking up when accessing server browser
Status: Fixed!
Solution: A hotfix for this issue has been discovered and is being applied. This hotfix is invisible – users don’t have to do anything for this to function properly. You should not experience this problem beyond 10/28

Issue: Lilith's Phase Strike not functioning as intended
Status: Fixed!This has been addressed via update for all platforms

Issue: PC voice chat does not support volume control
Status: Fixed! This issue is fixed in update 1.0.1

Issue: Claptrap gets stuck during the introduction (~ within first 10 minutes of game) and will not progress
Status: Fixed! As of update 1.0.1, this is fixed on all platforms




Issues with fixes pending deployment

These issues have been solved by our engineers, and the fixes for them are awaiting deployment in an upcoming update. They will be addressed as soon as possible.

Issue: some items have more attributes than the item card is capable of displaying
Status: a fix to display the five intended lines is pending deployment. This is solved on the PC as of 11/16

Issue: Players are able to call more than one bloodwing at a time
Status: a fix has been found and is pending deployment

Issue: weapon proficiencies disappear upon leaving a co-op game
Status: A solution for this problem has been discovered and a fix is pending This is solved on the PC as of 11/16

Issue: PC: players could edit inventory size in the .ini and affect clients
Status: a fix has been found and is pending deployment

Issue: (360, PS3) Users level 25+ finding only low level games
Status: A solution for this problem has been discovered and a fix is pending

Issue: Aim-assist does not toggle on and off properly
Status: A solution to this problem has been found and a fix is pending!

Issue: Lilith's "Silent Resolve" skill is not functioning as intended on the 360 or PS3
Status: A solution for this problem has been found and a fix is pending deployment.




Known Workarounds – we have identified some workarounds that might help you with a few issues. NOTE: These are immediate, short term workarounds. These are not final solutions, but are procedures you can use if you experience a problem instead of waiting for an update. They are not guaranteed to work, but might help you solve your problem.

Issue: PC players experiencing difficulty connecting to multiplayer games
Solution: You need to do a few things if you are experiencing this problem:If this does not work for you and you have followed all the instructions, jump to this post to view a link to some unsupported, unofficial user-found workarounds: http://gbxforums.gearboxsoftware.com...86&postcount=3
Status: a solution to NAT and connectivity problems for many users has been found and is pending deployment.

Issue: trouble installing the game on the PC

Status: This issue is being investigated

Issue: PS3 - microphone lag, choppy or altered audio
Workaround: Change your headset output to your television, this may help alleviate the problem
Status: A potential fix has been found and is being tested

Issue: Some achievements and trophies fail to unlock
Verified Workaround: Complete the achievement or trophy objectives with a new character (verified work-around played off-line).
Status: A solution has been found for this issue and is pending deployment

Issue: User is signed out of PSN when starting a single player game, or periodically throughout play
Verified Workaround: Sign back into PSN after the disconnect
Status: Issue is under investigation.

Issue: Digital audio skips or stutters
Verified Workaround: Do not use digital audio output. This is not a permanent solution, but should clear up audio issues in the interim. Make sure your PS3 is updated by performing a system update check!
Status: A fix for this issue has been verified and is pending deployment

Issue: The "Find Steele" mission is not completable if the cutscene or credits are interrupted
Workaround: Do not shut down the console or quit the game during the cutscene or credits
Status: A fix has been found for this issue and is pending deployment

Issue: The PC version isn't saving
Workaround: you have installed the game to a non-standard partition or have changed your default documents folder location. Try reinstalling to a standard partition or restore your default documents folder.

PS3 only

Issue: (PS3) The console freezes during play
Frequency: Low
Status: The cause of this problem is being investigated

Issue: (PS3) Error codes displayed when attempting to sign into multiplayer
Frequency: Low
Status: The cause of this problem is being investigated

Issue: (PS3) Frame rate drops in a game with 3+ players
Frequency: Moderate
Status: The cause of this problem is being investigated



PC

Issue: PC users experience a "General protection fault" error
Frequency: Low
Status: This issue is being investigated

Issue: PC players, while in multiplayer, sometimes lose the ability to save
Status: A potential fix has been found for this issue and it is being tested

Issue: Inconsistent use of mouse/keyboard controls to access PC menus
Stats: This issue is being investigated

issue: PC - mouse sensitivity adjustment does not affect movement in menus
status: this issue is under investigation



All Platforms

Issue: Skill points or items disappear, or skill points are gained, usually after a multiplayer game
Frequency: client-side, moderate
Status: A potential fix has been found for this issue and it is being tested. As of update 1.0.1 on 11/16, PC users who experience skill point loss will regain the points

Issue: Save file is corrupted
Frequency: Very Low
Status: A fix is being investigated. Back up your saves periodically to minimize this issue's impact.

Issue: No buff icon displayed for Brick's "payback" skill
Status: under investigation

Workaround for multiplayer connection problems on PC:

-Issue: PC players experiencing difficulty connecting to multiplayer games
-Workaround: You need to do a few things if you are experiencing this problem:
Please check the user-found troubleshooting thread for further workarounds: http://gbxforums.gearboxsoftware.com...ad.php?t=79770 These are not officially supported but might work for you.






Known Issues:

Quick update tonight to link to a post from a developer about a workaround for PC Installer issues. NOTE: this workaround is pretty technical and requires registry editing, so please only do it if you are comfortable doing this kind of troubleshooting.

If you have experienced the issue where skills, skill points, or inventory items are lost, please post a thread explaining what was you were doing when it occurred. If you can provide steps that consistently reproduce this problem, please inform us! In the meantime, please back up your saves whenever possible!

The PS3 and 360 versions will begin receiving a patch tomorrow, 10/30.

All platforms will receive fixes as we are able to deploy them! This is not the end of our support - we wanted to get the fixes we already have out as quickly as possible.
