I'll try to keep it as simple as possible so people can implement this quite fast. If you're already familiar with the FOV tweaking, then this will be a breeze.
People have noted characters do not always fit on screen and there are some nagging camera bugs, but hey, can you complain? This game wasn't made to be third person. First, check out the screenies we have and a vid first so you can see if you want to implement this: ![]() http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0HAiBMnp3hE&fmt=22 INSTRUCTIONS: You need to direct yourself over to My Documents/My Games/Borderlands/Config To activate the third person mode, you only need to change 1 file. If you wish to tweak the actual position of the camera (you do), you will need to tweak another: WillowInput.ini WillowGame.ini You're looking for this section: [WillowGame.WillowPlayerInput] AdvancedButtonTapInterval=0.350000 AdvancedButtonRetapDelay=0.500000 bAlwaysPlayForceFeedback=false ..you will see all your key bindings under there. NOTE: some people may have to play the game first and change at least one binding in their controls for this section to be there. All you need to do is scroll to the bottom of this section, and add these two lines: Quote:
Now, if you want to improve on this, you can change the position of the actual camera (thanks to Ultimate Carl for this!): Quote:
Some people have complained that the scoping doesn't work well, and it doesn't. After all, *this game wasn't made for 3rd person view*. There is a nice control tweak (thanks to Zhizi), which will put you in first person mode when you scope, and back into third person when you release the scope button. Quote:
; Simple. Hope other people have other ways to contribute to this. There's some rough edges, but generally, this works quite well as illustrated in the video above. Have fun Borderlanders! Last edited by [BoX]SteroidFreud; November 2nd, 2009 at 12:12 AM. |

There's so much more in there too. Like I saw this:
CommandName="Increase Instinct Level",Command="instinct up",Description="Increases the player's instinct skill level." CommandName="Toggle No Target",Command="notarget",Description="Toggle creatures ability to target you." CommandName="Toggle 4x Speed",Command="toggleslomo 4",Description="Toggle speed." CommandName="Balance Me",Command="balanceme",Description="Adjust my exp level and gear to match this area of the game.",bOnClient=true CommandName="Balance Party",Command="balanceparty",Description="Adjust everyone's exp level and gear to match this area of the game." CommandName="Open All Fast Travel",Command="UnlockAllFastTravelStations",Desc ription="Activates all Fast Travel stations" CommandName="Award 1000 Experience",Command="expfunc givepoints 1000",Description="Immediately award player 1000 experience points." EVEN to stuff like spawning: ,CommandName="Spawn LightRunner vehicle (RL)",Command="spawnvehicle gd_LightRunner.VehicleArchetype.LightRunner_Rocket s" GOLD! |

Love the CommandBox...that is what you're using right (I'm assuming if your binding keys etc.)

No, the actual command console isn't working. We can't suss it out. That's why you have to assign commands to actual keys. Usually, you'd be able to run these commands by typing them in the console.
Seems to prefix everything with 'say' though. |

Oh, and it certainly doesn't float my boat. I HATE third person, but I saw few asking for it AND it does drastically alter the viewport, so why not. Some people might get bored and use it for a while.
Also, this was just what I thought would be the most popular, as it isn't really cheating. There are other commands I detailed above which apparently spawn things in game, increase stats with a key, increase speed, baclance xp for where you are in the game. Things like that. I didn't want to elaborate too much on those though, because that is cheating. But, hey, in sp anything goes. Last edited by [BoX]SteroidFreud; October 28th, 2009 at 05:28 PM. |

Sniping is a bit broken by the third person view point. Short and medium range scoping works A-OK, but actual long-range sniping is busted. I mapped the first person command to my right mouse button for easy access when I'm about to do some sniping (I use shift for scope/iron-sights) and I mapped third person (which I intend to keep on for the most part now) to Z, which was also unused before.
