Thank you all for using the correct tech support forum to report any technical issues you’ve experienced while playing Borderlands! We’ve been working hard since release to investigate the reported issues, and would like to use this post to keep you all updated on the status of commonly reported issues. Some of these issues can be solved with workarounds, and others have been identified but will need additional time before they can be addressed.

If you are experiencing any issue that is not listed here, please do make a thread in the tech support section about it and provide as much information as you can so we can begin investigating it!




Issues with fixes pending deployment

These issues have been solved by our engineers, and the fixes for them are awaiting deployment in an upcoming update. They will be addressed as soon as possible.








Known Workarounds – we have identified some workarounds that might help you with a few issues. NOTE: These are immediate, short term workarounds. These are not final solutions, but are procedures you can use if you experience a problem instead of waiting for an update. They are not guaranteed to work, but might help you solve your problem.

Issue: trouble installing the game on the PC

Status: This issue is being investigated

Issue: PS3 - microphone lag, choppy or altered audio
Workaround: Change your headset output to your television, this may help alleviate the problem
Status: A potential fix has been found and is being tested

Issue: User is signed out of PSN when starting a single player game, or periodically throughout play
Verified Workaround: Sign back into PSN after the disconnect
Status: Issue is under investigation.

Issue: The PC version isn't saving
Workaround: you have installed the game to a non-standard partition or have changed your default documents folder location. Try reinstalling to a standard partition or restore your default documents folder.

Issue: PC users experience a "General protection fault" error
Workaround: This error can have many different causes (several of which are issues with your hardware configuration or drivers). issue: Players are able to raid the armory with no time limit by exploiting geometry, creates a progress blocker
status: under investigation
workaround: Do not use the geometry exploit to raid the armory if you would like to complete the DLC

issue: Super-Marcus Sweep and It's Like Christmas! missions can be shared in co-op as side missions and result in a progress blocker
status: under investigation
workaround: Do not enter a co-op game if you have one of these missions in your log

issue: Turning in the You've Got Moxxi: Roadblock mission in a game with a host further along in the main story results in a progress blocker
status: under investigation
workaround: Do not turn in this mission if you are playing with a host who is further in the main story than you are

Issue: (PS3) The console freezes during play

Status: The cause of this problem is being investigated

Issue: (PS3) Error codes displayed when attempting to sign into multiplayer

Issue: (PS3) Frame rate drops in a game with 3+ players
Frequency: Moderate

PC

Issue: PC players, while in multiplayer, sometimes lose the ability to save
Status: A potential fix has been found for this issue and it is being tested

Issue: Inconsistent use of mouse/keyboard controls to access PC menus
Stats: This issue is being investigated

issue: PC - mouse sensitivity adjustment does not affect movement in menus
status: this issue is under investigation






All Platforms

issue: Items get stuck under the penalty box in Mad Moxxi
status: This issue is under investigation

issue: progression in the Underdome can rarely be blocked by enemies escaping the coliseums
status: this issue is under investigation

issue: DLC: Jakobs vending machine only accessible once after completing mission "Upsale"
status: This issue is under investigation

issue: Players can obtain an uncompletable copy of some missions (like "Find Steele") in multiplayer games after they have completed the mission
status: This issue is under investigation

issue: Some high-level characters report some fast-travel locations missing after installing DLC
status: This issue is under investigation

issue: Backpack slots or weapon slots are very rarely lost after the credits
status: This issue is under investigation

issue: some class mods that reduce Bloodwing cooldown are not functioning properly
status: this issue is under investigation

issue: users report some class mods obtained in Knoxx DLC disappear
status: a potential fix has been found and is under investigation




Solved Issues – these issues should no longer occur

Issue: Skill points or items disappear, or skill points are gained, usually after a multiplayer game
Status: Resolved! Most instances of character data loss should no longer occur, and characters that have lost skill points should receive them again.

Issue: PSN friends list not functioning properly
Status: Fixed!
Verified Solution: As of 10/20/09, an update with a hot fix for this issue has been applied already on the back-end, user doesn’t have to do anything for this to function properly now – just play the game!
Update: We have received some information that this is not working for all players and is still affecting a small subset. We are attempting to find the source of the continuing problem for these users

Issue: PSN server browser takes a long time to populate server list
Status: Fixed!
Verified Solution: As of 10/22/09, an update with a hot fix for this issue has been applied already on the back-end, user doesn’t have to do anything for this to function properly now – just play the game!

Issue: PC locking up when accessing server browser
Status: Fixed!
Solution: A hotfix for this issue has been discovered and is being applied. This hotfix is invisible – users don’t have to do anything for this to function properly. You should not experience this problem beyond 10/28

Issue: Lilith's Phase Strike not functioning as intended
Status: Fixed!This has been addressed via update for all platforms

Issue: PC voice chat does not support volume control
Status: Fixed! This issue is fixed in update 1.0.1

Issue: Claptrap gets stuck during the introduction (~ within first 10 minutes of game) and will not progress
Status: Fixed! As of update 1.0.1, this is fixed on all platforms

Issue: some items have more attributes than the item card is capable of displaying
Status: Fixed! a fix to display the five intended lines has been deployed on all platforms

Issue: weapon proficiencies disappear upon leaving a co-op game
Status: Fixed! A solution for this problem has been deployed on all platforms

Issue: Aim-assist does not toggle on and off properly
Status: Fixed! A solution to this problem has been deployed

Issue: Lilith's "Silent Resolve" skill is not functioning as intended on the 360 or PS3
Status: Fixed! A solution for this problem has been deployed

Issue: Players are able to call more than one bloodwing at a time
Status: Fixed!

Issue: PC: players could edit inventory size in the .ini and affect clients
Status: Fixed!

Issue: The "Find Steele" mission is not completable if the cutscene or credits are interrupted
Workaround: Do not shut down the console or quit the game during the cutscene or credits
Status: Fixed!

Issue: Some achievements and trophies fail to unlock
Verified Workaround: Complete the achievement or trophy objectives with a new character (verified work-around played off-line).
Status: Fixed!

Issue: Digital audio skips or stutters
Verified Workaround: Do not use digital audio output. This is not a permanent solution, but should clear up audio issues in the interim. Make sure your PS3 is updated by performing a system update check!
Status: Fixed!

Issue: PC players experiencing difficulty connecting to multiplayer games
Status: Fixed! As of update 1.21, PC users should have much greater ease in connecting online.

Issue: some PC users are experiencing distorted shadows and graphical glitches after updating to 1.0.1
Status: Fixed! As of update 1.21, this should no longer occur.

issue: PS3 players experiencing graphical glitches and crashes after completing "Relight the Beacons"
Status: Fixed! This issue should no longer occur as of 1.30 (released 2/23 for 360, 2/25 for PC/PS3)

issue: Users are able to manipulate item data to create modded items that are usable in the game
Status: Fixed! Invalid items should no longer make it into the game as of 1.30 (released 2/23 for 360, 2/25 for PC/PS3)

issue: Multiple PSN account sign-in not supported
Status: Fixed! multple sign-in supported as of 1.30 (released 2/23 for 360, 2/25 for PC/PS3)

issue: corrupted 360 save files
Status: Fixed! A fix for a cause of this issue was deployed as of 1.30 (released 2/23 for 360, 2/25 for PC/PS3)

Issue: Both players do not always receive achievements when playing splitscreen in the Zombie Island DLC
Status: Fixed! This issue should no longer occur as of 1.30 (released 2/23 for 360, 2/25 for PC/PS3)

issue: multiple copies of Zombie Island missions can be obtained
Status: Fixed! This issue should no longer occur as of 1.30 (released 2/23 for 360, 2/25 for PC/PS3)

issue: some class mods have abilities that were not functioning properly
Status: Fixed! This issue should no longer occur as of 1.30 (released 2/23 for 360, 2/25 for PC/PS3)

issue: When a player is accessing the Underdome bank, other players may not be able to move
Status: Fixed! This issue should no longer occur as of 1.30 (released 2/23 for 360, 2/25 for PC/PS3)

issue: the game crashes when killing the final boss while zoomed in after installing 1.21
Status: Fixed! This issue should no longer occur as of 1.30 (released 2/23 for 360, 2/25 for PC/PS3)

issue: The "Careful, He Bites" achievement does not unlock on xbox 360s set to the French language
Status: Fixed! This issue should no longer occur as of 1.30 (released 2/23 for 360, 2/25 for PC/PS3)

issue: The server browser does not correctly display games with hosts over level 50
Status: Fixed! A hotfix has been deployed by Gamespy for PS3 and PC that addresses this issue; users need to nothing and should be able to see level 50+ games properly; 360 fix on its way

issue: Grenade mod, class mod, and shield items have been reported to disappear after playing and leaving the Underdome.
status: Fixed! This issue should no longer occur

issue: The server browser does not correctly display games with hosts over level 50
Status: Fixed! This has now been resolved for all platforms (360 resolved most recently)

Workaround for multiplayer connection problems on PC:

-Issue: PC players experiencing difficulty connecting to multiplayer games
-Workaround: You need to do a few things if you are experiencing this problem:

• The host must have these four ports forwarded:
  7777 (TCP/UDP)
  28900 (TCP)
  27900 (UDP)
  28910 (TCP).
  You can find out how to do this at http://www.portforward.com/.
• All players need to allow the game in the Windows Firewall, whether you have forwarded ports or not. You can learn more about how to do this here: http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/u...nfirewall.mspx.

Quick update tonight to link to a post from a developer about a workaround for PC Installer issues. NOTE: this workaround is pretty technical and requires registry editing, so please only do it if you are comfortable doing this kind of troubleshooting.
